Dressing for St. Patty’s Day: Sophisticated Greens

March 15, 2013

Ok, this is a hard holiday. It’s not like the Christmas season where ‘holiday attire’ could include anything from black to gold lame. Neither is it ‘Easter Appropriate’ where you can just wear any neutral color or a pastel. No, St. Patty’s Day is one of those holidays with specific dressing demands. The unfortunate part is, that the specific demand is green. I think I own one green shirt. And I think I pull it out from the back of my closet every year for St. Patty’s Day festivities (staying at home is not an option on a holiday that encourages binge day drinking). Some years, I forgo the whole green thing. But then you just feel like a stuck up ass, or worse, a really clueless foreign exchange student that never got the memo. In lieu of that not happening, I’m scavenged the web for some fantastic sophisticated greens that you can wear more than one day a year. Take note:

Day drinking + hot weather = you need a comfortable dress. I love these loose t-shirt dresses. All from

Not warm enough for dresses? (As someone who is watching it snow as I type this…I feel your pain) Check out these knits from net-a-porter. Perfect for dark wash skinny jeans and riding boots. All from

Too scared to wear green? Try it out on your feet. If you’re engaging in typical St. Patty’s day activities (parades, drinking….) you may want to opt for something comfy like these flats (and nearly flats). All from

How great are this little bags? They are definitely not something you will wear only once. All from

Stay safe and chic and have fun this weekend!
